There's a lot I wish got further explored in the concept itself, but as a family drama psychological horror flick, I still love it to death for what it is. I'm glad you finally got around to seeing it!Brennanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15399713449347559869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7799692319538063538.post-78283755823024622812016-09-03T22:20:57.040-07:002016-09-03T22:20:57.040-07:00Okay, I know this is one of your favorite movies o...Okay, I know this is one of your favorite movies of all time, and I finally watched it on Netflix, so I wanted to let you know what I thought. I think New Nightmare is a really creative and clever reboot/sequel. After years of redundant sequels that changed the tone of a series, Craven's horrific meta take on the material breathes some real originality and freshness into a series and genre that had gone stale. It doesn't rely upon cheap kills and gore, but more so on character, story, theme, and atmosphere. However, I didn't think it was nearly as affective as it could have been, as I got a little annoyed by the constant earthquakes and possession of the young boy, which became very redundant. I think this is what drew out the film to be too long for me, as some of these earthquakes or scare scenes could have been cut out. Overall though, I loved all of the performances, except for the boy really, and liked the film's serious and realistic take on the matter. I would have loved to have seen Robert Englund, John Saxon, and Wes Craven get killed in the "real world," but oh well.Zach Nixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09897951069093994788noreply@blogger.com
